The STEM MAD National 2026 logo has been designed as a symbolic and integrated representation of learning, people, and place. As STEM MAD takes on a truly national focus in 2026, the visual identity reflects both the scale of the event and its grounding in Catholic education, drawing inspiration from the principles of Laudato si’ — care for our common home.

STEM MAD

A National Identity for a National Year

To mark STEM MAD’s national scope in 2026, the logo adopts the outline of Australia rather than a state-based form. This clearly distinguishes the 2026 showcase from future years, including the planned NSW-focused event in 2027. The national shape reinforces the idea of students, educators, and school communities across the country coming together to share learning, ideas, and innovation.

Innovation and Energy

The upper section of the logo features a rising sun over abstract landforms. Instead of using literal symbols such as light bulbs or devices, this element represents curiosity, discovery, and the energy that drives learning. The rising sun suggests ideas emerging and spreading across the landscape, reinforcing that innovation is embedded in students’ lived environments — shaped by place, culture, and community, not confined to classrooms or technologies.

Sustainability and Stewardship

The flowing blue bands represent water and interconnected systems. These forms replace more literal sustainability icons, reflecting a deeper understanding of care for shared resources and long-term responsibility. This aligns closely with Catholic teachings on stewardship, presenting sustainability as an ongoing, collective commitment rather than a single action or utility.

Growth and Learning

The green terrain symbolises growth, learning, and renewal. Its scale and movement suggest education as a journey over time, shaping futures through aspiration, development, and formation. This element reflects STEM MAD’s focus on building student capability and confidence, and on preparing young people not just for academic success, but for life.

People and Wellbeing

The red segment incorporates a subtle skin-print texture, representing people without relying on literal human figures. This design choice places students, educators, and communities at the heart of STEM, while introducing themes of wellbeing, dignity, and human impact in a respectful and refined way. It reinforces the idea that people are integral to learning systems — not separate from them.

A Symbol of Learning, Care, and Possibility

Together, these elements form a contemporary visual identity that reflects STEM MAD’s purpose: bringing together innovation, faith, and care for our common home. The 2026 logo captures the energy of student learning, the responsibility of stewardship, and the shared national effort to educate young people who can make a meaningful difference in the world.
