Microsoft Elevate Summary

Last week, leaders from across Catholic education came together for a series of powerful engagements — the Catholic Education Pre-Day, Microsoft Elevate Day, and the AI Tour.

Elevate

Across each session, one thing was clear: the conversation around artificial intelligence in education has shifted. This is no longer about possibility — it’s about implementation, responsibility, and impact.

A Sector Moving with Purpose

We are deeply grateful to all who participated. The level of engagement, openness, and shared insight reflects a sector committed to getting this right.

Key themes emerged consistently across the sessions:

  • Ethical AI grounded in human dignity

  • Security and governance as non-negotiables

  • Equity of access across diverse systems

  • Wellbeing of students and staff

  • System-wide transformation, not isolated innovation

These are not just discussion points — they are foundational to how Catholic education navigates this next phase of technological change.

Encouragingly, there is a clear and growing commitment across systems to adopt AI with intent: supporting both organisational effectiveness and improved outcomes in the classroom.

From Conversation to Action

As momentum builds, the focus now turns to practical next steps.

Across the network, systems are exploring how to:

  • Pilot and trial Microsoft 365 Copilot and other AI solutions

  • Identify and prioritise use cases aligned to system strategy

  • Develop responsible AI frameworks grounded in governance, safety, and equity

  • Move from ideation to real-world implementation, supported by partners

This shift — from exploration to execution — marks an important inflection point for Catholic education.
